After redoing the windows and the front door at the start of the year, we took advantage of the end of the year to work on the layout of the living room and the entrance. We’ve been wanting to take over this area for a while to make it more pleasant, more cozy.
To have a clearer separation between the entrance and the living room, we built a wooden screen. We chose to make a wooden fence because it allows us to visually mark the separation while allowing light to pass through. We took the opportunity to add a mirror as suggested to us by a group of travelers, and some decorative platesto remind old emblematic French brands.
On the wooden fence, we also glued a ribbon of adjustable lights to add a little brightness on the living room side. For decoration, we also added a vase at the foot of the fence and a beautiful map of the world on the wall, on the left of the television. This is what it gives:
And finally, an essential part of the comfort of our travelers : a pretty blanket which adds color to the gray sofa and warmth to the coldest, especially since it is large enough for several people.
We hope that these improvements will please our next travelers. The rental house is already very popular, but we try to continue improving it every year. The next big project will be the frame. We will have to tear off the glass wool stuck between the rafters, as this does not leave an air gap under the slates. This will also allow us to see any possible water infiltration, as the roof is already quite old.
